Voloradome

Voloradome

The radome, which is a combination of the words dome, which means radar and dome in English, is the pointed part of the plane. The radome, which has a collapsible structure, is produced from a kind of composite radome material that can pass radio waves. The radome contains an antenna in the form of a flat plate.

Radar antennas have two important functions. One of them is the airborne radome function. The aircraft can detect bad weather conditions on its route in advance. With information obtained using metrics such as water droplets, pilots can avoid downpours and turbulence.

The second function is the GPWS system, which consists of the words The Ground Proximity Warning System. The GPWS scans the terrain below the planes to provide constant altitude information to the pilots.
